ASK Italian – Various Locations

“ASK” and you shall receive 🙏🏼 That’s right, @askitalian has added some more items to the vegan menu and it’s mahoosive now 😍🌱

I popped down to the branch with the best views in London 👀 to have my way with the saucy new dishes (and wine 🍷)😋 I ordered the bruschetta with marinated tomatoes & fresh basil 🍅 the spicy penne arrabiata 🔥 the fettucine con verdue – flat ribbon pasta with courgettes, oven-roasted tomatoes and spinach, seasoned with chilli & garlic, and topped with an olive tapenade 🍝 as well as the vegan Tuscan bread salad with yellow courgettes, tomatoes, cucumber, roasted peppers, red onions, pine nuts, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic 🥗

🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m never sure what to expect from a chain restaurant because they get given a hard time, but I was pleasantly surprised by ASK’s food 😍 The penne was my favourite. It was certainly not shy of a bit of spice and it was bursting with flavour from big chunks of tomato and chilli 🔥🌶 The bruschetta wasn’t bad but I added some balsamic vinegar and it took it to the next level 🤤

The Linguine had a subtle olive taste from the tapenade which didn’t overpower the dish, a little bit of heat and felt like a lighter dish than the penne as it was packed with fresh veggies but it would’ve benefited from some bolder flavours 🍝

The salad was alright but I’m not sure I would order it again 🥗 The bread soaks up the balsamic which is tasty but it does also mean that it becomes soggy quite quickly.
All in all, the portions are a great size and at around £8-£10 for a main, I think it’s great value 💰 As for those views, I’m not sure it gets much better than that 😍 Props to ASK for really giving some thought to the vegan menu!
