Babsang – Dalston

Love kimchi? You’re fer-meant to visit this place 😍

I ask you to kindly reserve judgement on that pun, thank you 😬

Anyway, there’s a newish Korean spot in Dalston (@babsanguk) and they have a really impressive range of vegan options 🌱 Plus, their staff are just the sweetest, most helpful people 🥺

Here’s what I ate & thought:

🍲Aubergine bibimbap
💰£11.50

🔥Korean fried tofu
💰£7

🥞Kimchi pancake with vegetables
💰£8.50
🏆Fave

🍜Vegetable Japchae (glass noodles with vegetables)
💰£8.50
🏆Fave

🌱Avocado Kim bap
💰£9

🌊Roasted seaweed
💰£5

🥟Steamed vegetable mandu
💰£7.50

💭Overall, I enjoyed the food here and was so impressed by the amount of vegan options. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to talk you through the menu which is helpful. Some of the prices were steep (seaweed) but others reasonable (Korean fried tofu). I thought the dishes were delicious but some needed a little tweak here and there e.g. tofu which had a heavenly glaze and would’ve been my fave if it had a different type of tofu as the spongey tofu felt a bit too airy in the middle / lacked bite. The Kim bap was nice but would’ve liked a sauce on top or some more creative fillings. I quite like bibimbap but never find it the most flavoursome dish on a menu. The kimchi pancake was a little greasy but I didn’t mind because it gave it some moisture. God, it was tasty. Also unexpectedly loved the japchae! Great flavours. The venue itself is cute and deffo worth a visit!

🤷🏼‍♀️ Visit again? Yes, I’d like to try even more of the options on offer and would go back for that kimchi pancake alone 😍
