Cheese & Wine Night @ 10 Cable Street – Aldgate East

“I could never go vegan… I love cheese too much” 🙅🏼‍♀️🧀🚫 {complimentary}

This is the phrase I hear more often than any other when discussing veganism, and I get it because that was me 364 days ago (yeah, that’s right)🙋🏼‍♀️ I just could not grasp how people could live without that creamy, crumbly, sharp goodness in their life 🤷🏼‍♀️ I won’t lie, vegan cheese isn’t exactly the same. It just isn’t. But I found that once I went vegan, my tastebuds changed slightly and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I no longer miss the taste. My palette has completely adjusted to the taste of vegan cheeses 👅

Having said all of that, I visited @mokofood’s vegan wine & cheese night at @tencablestreet this weekend and was BLOWN AWAY by how realistic some of the cheeses were. Moko collected some of the best cheeses from around the world to showcase, alongside her vegan salmon (@f_ish_notfish) and @jolley_chris & I went to town on a smorgasbord of absolute deliciousness.
The cheeses we tried were:
🧀Camembert – @mousesfavourite .
🧀Blue – @mousesfavourite .
🧀C’e dairy? – @iamnutok .
🧀Camambear – @silvermoonfood .
🧀Black pepper chèvre- @silvermoonfood .
🧀Mature farmhouse – @kindaco .
🧀Wood smoked cheese – @foodbysumear .
🧀Garlic & chive chèvre – @theartyvegan .
🧀Hard blue – .
🧀Baked Camembert – @kindstateofmind .
🧀FORMOS Aged cashew – washed rind –
It’s tough to pick a favourite as the standard was very high but I was always a fan of blue cheese and this is the first time I’ve had a vegan version and both of the blues were fantastic 👏🏼
You can buy these cheeses from the vendors online or at markets. I also highly recommend following @tencablestreet for more information on the next wine & cheese event because it’s a cracker of an evening (pun always intended). The wines on offer were also superb (thanks @tomottey ) 🍷 Moko also hosts vegan cheese making classes which I’m definitely signing up for! Let me know what your fave vegan cheese is in the comments! 💬
