The first thing the wait staff in Hotpot did was hand me a bib and I feel like that was the first sign that this was about to be a super fun meal 👊🏼
Either that or they’ve heard the rumour of how fantastically clumsy I can be. Either way, I was happy to accept.
Chris and I attempted to beat the absolutely arctic temperatures outside by heading down to Chinatown and getting stuck into Hotpot’s warming menu 🍲🔥 .
First, we tucked into the veggie spring rolls and gyoza and then we got involved with the hotpot action 🔥 We went for a half and half pot (a great idea for those who have different tastes to their partner or friend). On one side, we had the vitamin c sweet tomato with fresh herbs and tomatoes and on the other, we had the longevity mushroom broth with a variety of wild mushrooms, fresh mushrooms and cordyceps flowers.
The great thing about this meal is that you can add whatever you like to the broth so we decided to take full advantage and add every veggie option they had. We popped in Chinese cabbage, sweetcorn, oyster mushrooms, white shimeji mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, emerald spinach noodles, spinach, fresh tofu, tofu skin, fried tofu skin, fried tofu puffs and sliced bean curd sheets 😍
Totally messy, absolutely delish!
