Kamala – Bermondsey

ad AUTHENTIC SRI LANKAN STREET FOOD IN BERMONDSEY, LONDON 🥘

I love little @maltbystmarket but it hasn’t traditionally been known as a vegan paradise so it’s great to see fully vegan businesses like @kamala_uk popping up and bringing the flavour 😍

Run by two siblings, @kamala_uk is all about their grandma. From the name to the recipes, it’s all inspired by her.

They offer two food dishes:
🥘 Kottu – Sri Lankan curry, tossed through leeks, hispi cabbage and roti – cooked on the griddle. We added chilli sambal which I highly recommend
💰 £8

🍜 String hoppers – rice noodles in a fragrant coconut and tamarind broth
💰£7

💭 The kottu stole the show for me. I liked the flavours in both but enjoyed the variety of textures in the kottu more and the little kick from the chilli sambal was beautiful. I could’ve sprinkled the whole bowl on. They are both great winter warmers! It’s so great to see one of London’s best street food markets introducing more vegan options!

🍨 No desserts but they do offer an oat milk chai latte which I want to try next time!
