Pickle dogs and tacos and kimchi… oh my! 🌭 {press meal}
Meet @koreandinnerparty 👋🏼 It’s not a traditional Korean restaurant but is inspired by LA’s Koreatown and is a fusion of East-meets-West flavours and dishes 🍴
For the menu, they collaborated with Ana Gonçalves (@ana_357) and Zijun Meng (@zijun_meng) because of their unique approaches to flavour and fusion 🔥
Here’s what I ate:
🌭 Deep fried pickle dog w/ ketchup & Tajin salt (plus edible gold dust & pearls for their current special)
💰£4
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? No. I didn’t hate it – it was tasty and I liked the soft breading and contrast of sharp & sweet flavours but I personally wanted a vegan version of the corn dog using a vegan meat hotdog. For anyone who wants to try it, it’s there until Sunday 5th
🥞 Kimchi & onion pancake w/ mustard mayo
💰£5
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? Yes. I really liked this. I’m not the worlds biggest kimchi fan but love a kimchi pancake as it’s subtle. Also, loved the mustard mayo
🏆 Fave dish
🌮 KFC – Korean fried cauliflower tacos w/ cheese ranch, chilli relish & Asian slaw
💰£12
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? Yes. There were some great flavours in these which mainly came from the sauces. The cauli had a good crunch. I’d also love to see an option with aubergine / mushrooms and maybe even vegan meat
💭 I gave some extra feedback on this one. Firstly, I saw crudités on the menu as one of the few vegan options but it’s not something I’d order, especially at a place like this where the non-vegan options are hearty and exciting. Veg and hummus doesn’t really fit with the cuisine and feels like it hasn’t been given much thought. With a few tweaks, the kimchi stone pot and chilli chips could be easily veganised which would be better options
🍨 No vegan desserts but they said they’re working on it
