La Nonna – Brixton

Pasta that’s second to “nonna” 🍝 {ad – press sample}⁣

Of all of the delicious vegan food available now, I still think fresh pasta is one of the hardest to find 🙅🏼‍♀️ and that upsets me, because pasta is a carby gift from above, which none of us should be deprived of 🙌🏼⁣

So, imagine my pure delight when I was invited to try out the fresh, egg-free pasta from Italian-owned @lanonnaldn 🤤 Here’s what we ate:⁣

🍝Tomato “Pomodoro” w/ slow cooked garlic, fresh basil & extra virgin olive oil (“Arrabbiata” available)⁣
💰£6.50⁣
💭Simple dish done well. Sauce was really nice – chunky, full of flavour, not watery. Basil was fresh, pasta was perfectly cooked & held onto sauce well. Vegan cheese worked well⁣
🤷🏼‍♀️Order again? Yes⁣⁣

🍝Creamy mushroom w/ four types of mushroom, plantbased cream & parsley⁣
💰£8.25⁣
💭Dreamy! Pasta is thick but feels light & has great bite to it. Sauce is creamy but not too thick. Good ratio of sauce to pasta, decent amount of shrooms, great flavour⁣
🤷🏼‍♀️Order again? Yes⁣⁣
🏆Fave dish⁣

🍝Spaghetti & “meatballs” in a rich tomato sauce w/ parsley⁣
💰£9⁣
💭 Beaut flavours. Meatballs were like a mix of meat and falafel – really tasty and a generous serving of them too. Spaghetti was thick and cooked perfectly. Portions are v filling. I’m curious why this was more expensive than the meat dishes 🤔⁣
🤷🏼‍♀️Order again? Yes⁣⁣

🖤 Diversity: PR: “Over 50% of our team is BAME – our policy since we started in 2015. We make it our mission to have a diverse mix of people invited to collaborate. We’ve always pushed this onto our clients”. This is great but it‘d be good to see La Nonna using their page to talk about their thoughts and actions too
