Lahpet – Spitalfields & Shoreditch

Curries and noodles and fritters (oh my) 🦁🐯🐻 🍜 {complimentary}

I recently took my hungry little belly down to @lahpet in @oldspitalfieldsmarket for my first ever taste of Burmese food 🍛 Have any of you tried it before? .
I love the vibes in OSM and had been eying this stall up for a while but wasn’t sure what their vegan offering was like so figured it was time to find out! 🌱 Here’s what we ate & what we thought:

🌱Aubergine curry w/ crispy onions, potato & rice
💰 £7
✏️ The textures in this are dreamy. Soft, squishy aubergine with fluffy rice, chunky potatoes, crunchy onions & a spicy curry sauce to tie it all together. This was HOT 🥵 Like lip tingling, nose running hot 🔥 I like a hot curry but this perhaps was a tad too spicy for me and did detract from the overall taste. I would’ve loved more depth of flavour but overall I did enjoy it!
❓ Order Again? Yes, but would love a tiny bit less heat and more flavour .
🌱Stuffed tofu
💰 £3.50
✏️ Again, a strong range of textures but it lacked flavour. I did love the sauce it came with but the tofu itself needed more taste
❓ Order Again? No

🌱Split pea fritters
💰 £3.50
✏️ These soft, light, fluffy parcels are served with a sauce which is vinegary, sharp & a bit spicy. The texture inside reminded me of scrambled tofu. The sauce was quite watery which I didn’t mind but Chris wanted it to be a little thicker. The sauce provided the flavour but would’ve liked more in the fritters themselves .
❓ Order Again? Yes

🌱Papaya & noodle salad
💰 £5
✏️ This is light, refreshing and hosts a really nice range of textures but I thought it lacked flavour. The crispy onions were great but it felt like it was missing something – perhaps some tofu
❓ Order Again? No
