Vegan “mutton” dressed as lamb 🐑 {press meal}

This little Jamaican spot in Camden ( @mapetitejamaica ) has quite a big vegan menu and I was impressed by the vegan meats & flavours they’ve used to recreate some classic dishes 👏🏼

Here’s what I ate:

🥘 Jackfruit & vegan “mutton” curry, rice & peas, vegan slaw

🤷🏼‍♀️ Order again? Yes but I’d be inclined to take the jackfruit out and focus on the mutton which was amazing. Such a good texture. I find jackfruit a bit juicy to be a decent meat sub when it’s in chunks. Still, I loved it. The flavours were beaut and the slaw so creamy

🤷🏼‍♀️ Order again? Yes. Again, very realistic texture to the “meat”. I’m not a jerk expert but I liked the flavours – had an aniseed taste to it which I liked. Don’t think we got any plantain

🌱 Vegetable Jamaican patty w/ sweet chilli compot, coco bread

🤷🏼‍♀️ Order again? Yes. The patty was nice but I wouldn’t have minded a touch more flavour. The compot made up for this though

🤷🏼‍♀️ Order again? No. Think this is just personal taste. Didn’t dislike them but found them a bit dense / dry

🤷🏼‍♀️ Order again? Yes. I liked eating this with the curry for a nice mixture of sweet and salty

🍨 Desserts: They offer a vegan brownie with salted caramel sauce & ice cream

🌱 You’ll notice I’m holding mac & cheese in the pic. When ordering, I thought this was vegan. Took a bite and realised it wasn’t (luckily my boyf was there to eat it) but I’d like to see clearer labelling to avoid mistakes like this
