Pho-ho-ho 🎅🏼 (Invite)
(I know, I know, it’s pronounced ‘fuhh’ but let me have this one in the spirit of Christmas). On that note: Have I got news pho you! 👀 Vietnamese chain @phorestaurant has introduced a new festive vegan menu and good LORD, it’s great! 🎄 There is SO much choice!
@jolley_chris and I gobbled up:
🌱 Fresh rice paper rolls with veggies, herbs, vermicelli & pickle with a soy ginger sauce – tasty enough and very fresh but needed a bit more flavour, although the dipping sauce was delicious!
🌱 Crispy spring rolls with a peanut sauce – These were really overcooked and therefore quite chewy and dry but the satay sauce was amazing!
🍛 A rich, fragrant Vietnamese curry with tofu & mushrooms, topped with nuts & served with broken rice – This was SO GOOD. Creamy, rich, bursting with flavour. Quite similar to a massaman in flavour and with a little touch of heat 🔥
🍜 Pho Vietnamese noodle soup with morning glory, green beans, pak Choi, fresh lime & Thai basil in veggie broth with garlic – This had quite an earthy, almost smoky taste which I didn’t mind but Chris wasn’t keen on. I loved how fresh all of the veggies were but perhaps the dish was lacking some depth of flavour
🍚 Aromatic, spicy wok-fried rice with shiitake mushrooms & Thai basil – Deeeelicious! Beautiful flavours, nice juicy mushrooms, a fair bit of heat. Loved it!
🍜 Vermicelli noodles with a wok-fried lemongrass & chilli topping, fresh herbs, beansprouts, a veggie spring roll, peanuts and tofu – Chris quite liked this one and I thought it was alright but I preferred the other noodle dish. It had some sweetness but I thought that the tofu needed more flavour .
For £14.50 for two courses, I think this is a really great deal! The portions are generous and our service was great 👏🏼 I’d definitely go back here ♥️ .
