It’s clear to me now why it is that there’s a pair of angel wings outside Redemption and that is because the food is bloody heavenly 👼🏼
I glided my little hungry self down to alcohol free, all vegan, health focused Redemption Bar in Old Street.
The first dish we tasted was the slow cooked, pulled sweet n’ smoky BBQ jackfruit burger with sauerkraut superslaw, served on a gluten free bun 🍔 with sweet potato fries 🍟
Next, despite the common belief that you don’t make friends with salad, my friend and I bonded over the Probiotic Booster Bowl (also known as the healthiest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on or put into my stomach). This is a health kick in a bowl and is overflowing with green cabbage, celeriac, carrot & kolrabi superslaw with coconut kefir dill dressing, chopped kale salad with medjool dates, chilli, sesame seeds, spring onions, almonds, miso dressing, and a pickled cauliflower kimchi. Blimey. I’m exhausted after typing that. It’s a very very healthy dish, perhaps even a little too leafy for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love healthy food but I wanted some substance in there because I’ve got an appetite! My biggest concern when ordering salads is that they won’t fill me up and this did leave me feeling a bit unsatisfied.
The cheesecake and banoffee pie for dessert were huge portions! I did like the taste but they were a bit grainy / heavy for my tastes.
Overall, the food here is centred around healthy ingredients and if you’re looking to treat yourself to a meal out but want to fill your body with the good stuff, this is a great choice. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is quite laid back.
