Texture – Marylebone

Oh you fancy, huh? 💁🏼‍♀️
Vegan food has come a hella long way in the last few years but I sometimes struggle to find a high end restaurant with a vegan menu 🌱 Most of the time I’m happy munching on my vegan burgers but sometimes a girl wants to jazz things up for special occasions, ya know? 🤷🏼‍♀️
Enter Michelin starred @texturerestaurant, which offers a 7 course menu (£76) with the option of prestige wine pairing (£95) 🍷 The service is exquisite, the venue is modern with a relaxed yet sophisticated feel and the interior is giving off serious Scandi vibes 😍
The vegan menu consists of:
– Appetisers: Pea mousse (beautifully unusual with contrasting temperatures & textures) and Beetroot Gazpacho (a little too earthy for my palette)
– First Course: Tomato Gazpacho with ‘snow’, olives, herbs & tofu. This was my dish of the night. Beaut, sweet, tangy tomatoes with light crunchy croutons and firm tofu which soaks up the liquid. Refreshing and bursting with flavour!)

– Second Course – Baby Italian Artichokes, puree, broth, olives & herbs. This reminded me of a cross between miso and a vegan version of homemade chicken soup. It was light yet creamy and comforting but the amount of olive oil used was a little too strong for me
– Third Course: Barley, harissa with avocado, hummus & fennel. This wasn’t my favourite dish taste-wise but the textures were so lovely
– Fourth Course: Black rice, coconut, lime leaf, lemongrass & Thai basil. This was creamy and packed with juicy mushrooms, Thai flavours and creamy coconut milk. Big chunky nuts gave it a lovely crunch and overall it was light and mild
– Pre dessert: A matcha palette cleanser. Refreshing & light
– Dessert: Peruvian Mango, passionfruit, soup, mange tout. Absolutely heavenly!
