ad THE BEST VEGAN BACON ON THE MARKET, “THIS ISN’T BACON” IS NOW AVAILABLE AT BILL’S RESTAURANTS 🥓
Yesterday, @this.uk invited me down to Bill’s Restaurants to try out their new streaky bacon which has taken two years for them to develop 🥓
In case you haven’t heard, the new “This Isn’t Bacon” product has been hyped up all over the vegan internet space recently so my expectations were high and honestly, for me it delivered 👌🏼
It’s not exaaaactly the same if I was to be super super picky but it’s really bloody good.
I really liked it and I ate eight rashers to ensure this review was accurate 🙃🥓 It’s got that fattiness that real bacon has and that other vegan bacons usually lack 👏🏼 While I liked the flavour of their original bacon, I found it quite dense and tough. I only really enjoyed it when it was in other things – as a stand alone product, it didn’t really work for me, but the new product It’s an absolute step up.
It’s actually good enough for me to not feel like I’m missing out on bacon ever again and that’s quite a big call. Has anyone tried it? What did you think?
We tried @this.uk dishes from the @billsrestaurant menu:
🍳 The Plant plate with @this.uk sausages, @this.uk bacon, roasted plum tomatoes, mushrooms, fried potatoes, scrambled @loveoggs, baked beans & toast with sriracha sauce
🧀 Bacon mac & cheese with @this.uk lardons
🌱 Chicken & bacon wellington with @this.uk chicken & @this.uk lardons, layered with apricot stuffing and wrapped in puff pastry. Served with seasonal greens, roast squash & gravy
💭 The food was to share so I only got a little bite of each (also because I stuffed myself with the rashers). I liked the plant plate and thought it was good value but I really didn’t enjoy the scrambled oggs. The wellington was tasty and so was the mac & cheese. I’d actually really like to go back and try them again properly. But the highlight for me was that streaky bacon. Really impressed.
I’ll be releasing a video on how it cooks at home next week so watch out for that! 🥓 👀
