Two Words: Dumpling Festival

*Please note that this was written before I turned vegan*

When I heard the words ‘dumpling festival’, it was always a pretty safe bet that I would be there, first in line, chanting ‘we want dumplings’ and wearing an ‘I love dumplings’ t-shirt. ❀️ Well, maybe not exactly but I do love ’em! 🍱

First thing I noticed was how busy it was – I’m clearly not the only Londoner who loves a dumpling or two! Nevertheless, Chris and I divided and conquered – One in the bao bun queue and the other in the dumpling queue. It’s all about strategy at a food market you see πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

We queued for about twenty minutes and then armed ourselves with Chinese street food 😍 I had the spinach and tofu option from The Ugly Dumpling and Chris went for the prawn & chive and chicken satay options 🍱 I enjoyed the spinach dumplings but thought they could have done with a little bit more flavour and maybe a wider range of toppings to spruce them up a bit! NB: I’ve spoken to the vendor since and they said they’re happy to add more toppings on request! ❀️

For bao buns, we went to Bun House and look, the texture of the buns was divine but I was hoping for a bit more flavour with the mushroom filling πŸ„ To be fair, we visited both stalls at the end of the third day so perhaps they were a little exhausted of their normal supplies at this point. I can’t imagine how busy this place was all weekend! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Nonetheless, we ate all of it and we were sufficiently full afterwards ☺️ Did anyone else head down? What did you think?
