V Belly – Tooting


I’d heard that there was a new kid on the block in Tooting and after various requests from all of you, I’ve been making a conscious effort to venture down to South London more often. I took my rumbling tummy for a little trip to @vbellylondon and BOY am I glad I did. This is such a little hidden gem 💎 It could easily go under the radar as it’s tucked away inside Tooting Market but when you find it, you’ll be glad you did!

Here’s what Chris & I ate and thought:⁣

🌱Shroom Bombs – Wild mushroom croquettes w/ garlic cashew dip⁣


✏️I haven’t stopped thinking about these since I had them. They’re juicy and moist inside, light and crispy on the outside. I could honestly eat a million of them. They also come with the most delicious sauce too 🤤👌🏼⁣

🌱El Dippo – Chipotle & black bean dip w/ corn chips⁣


✏️I really enjoyed how creamy the dip was but I did think that it could use a little more flavour. The cheese also gets a bit lost and I’m not sure if it adds anything either texture or flavour wise. I enjoyed the sweetness of the red onion & tomatoes but I wanted more of them as there was only a light sprinkling on top

🌱Sea-leriac – Beer battered celeriac w/ chip shop curry sauce⁣


✏️So, this is a really well executed dish. The batter is very good (if a tiny bit oily) and the texture is quite flaky and similar to fish in some ways but from a totally personal point of. view, I’m just not sure if I’m the biggest fan of celeriac. But give it a go for yourself, it is a very clever dish.

🌱Beet The Meat Burger – Veg packed patty in a beetroot bun w/ crispy onions & cheeze w/ burger sauce⁣

💰£8 (+£2 for chips)⁣

✏️I always get a bit nervous with veg patties that they’ll be a little dry but this patty wasn’t dry at all. The sauce was absolutely spot on, the cheese was a little gloopy but once its in the burger, the texture works. Yeah it gets a little messy but most decent burgers do!

🌱Faux Bab – Spiced Seitan kebab w/ pickled cabbage, salad and chilli & garlic sauce⁣

💰£7 (+£2 for chips)⁣

✏️In Chris’ own words: “This is the best vegan kebab I’ve had”. I must say, I agree. This was fantastic! I can only handle seitan in small doses now and what I liked about this is that it wasn’t too thick, it just gave it a little hint of a meaty bite. The flavours were really well balanced and there was even a little touch of mild heat⁣. Perfect!

🌱Nuts Bean Squash – Squash & green beans w/ creamy satay sauce & cauli rice⁣


✏️This was a damn good curry. Healthy yet hearty, sweet and nutty. The cauliflower rice worked well. Cauliflower rice isn’t something I’ve ventured into much before but it complimented the curry well. The veggies were also cooked perfectly!

🌱Belly Warmer Stew – Tomato & aubergine base, kale, butter beans, croutons (optional) & garlic cream⁣


✏️This packed some really nice deep flavours and the chunky beans were a winner but for me personal taste, I thought it needed something a big extra – perhaps some spice!
