Vegan Advegtures: Brighton, UK

Advertisements

Last week, I took a little trip down to Brighton with a group of friends to check out a couple of vegan spots. Now, I’m fully aware that Brighton’s scene is vibrant and extensive so I’ll definitely have to pop back to make sure I visit as many as possible, but this is about all we could fit into our day (and our stomachs!),

I always get great vibes from Brighton. It’s chilled yet buzzing at the same time and it’s by the sea. What’s not to love?

Here’s the list of places we visited in the order we visited them:

🌱 The Canna Kitchen

🌱 The Walrus Brighton

🌱 BeFries

🌱 Happy Maki

So, down to the nitty gritty. Here’s what we ate and what we thought:

1. The Canna Kitchen

Where is it?

14 Duke St, Brighton BN1 1AH

What’s it like?

This is the UK’s first cannabis themed, plant based restaurant. Their dishes are all infused with cannabinoids (psychoactive free) in some way! I’ve been looking into CBD oil recently and was really intrigued to find out more from the experts (if you go, ask for Charlotte). The cafe is cosy and the staff are friendly (and knowledgable). They’re working hard to tackle the stigma attached with both cannabis and plant based food – quite the feat!

2. The Walrus Brighton

Where is it?

10 Ship St, Brighton BN1 1AD

What’s it like?

This might be the biggest, most impressive pub I’ve ever seen. It has about twenty different areas and I actually got lost at one point! It’s traditional in decor and also has the most amazing ‘outdoor-not-outdoor’ area right at the top. This would be a great place to hang out at any time of the year, and I was really impressed by their vegan options as well as their knowledge of all things vegan. In particular, I was really pleased to find that they label the alcohol as vegan / not vegan on their menu. The food was hearty, pub food which didn’t make you feel like you’re missing out.

What’s it like?

This is a takeaway style chip shop with a tonne of vegan options. The staff are friendly and funny, and it’s a great place to stop if you want a quick snack!

4. Happy Maki

Where is it?

8 Pool Valley, Brighton BN1 1PN

What’s it like?

A cute little spot near the sea front. I’ve had Happy Maki’s vegan sushi burritos at various festivals before but it was nice to visit them in their own home! The staff are so lovely and their burritos are fully loaded!
