It’s crust a matter of time until I turn into a pizza tbh 🍕 (Invite)
Well, well, @wellstreetpizza. What have we here? Another pizzeria offering veegz options. I thought that sounded like something I needed to research for you guys 😜
I popped down to Hackney to check it out. There aren’t actually many vegan options on the menu but you can customise the pizzas and make your own so we had:
🍕 Focaccia All’Aglio – This was cooked well – thin yet fluffy. However, it needed more flavour
🍕 The Vegana with tomato, spinach, artichoke, mushrooms & Kalamata olives
🍕 The Zucca e Broccoletti with a squash base, tenderstem broccoli, pumpkin seed oil and chilli. We replaced the goats cheese with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms
Both of the pizzas were cooked well. I really liked the crusts but (and I know that traditional Neapolitan pizzas are meant to be thin) for me, the dough was just a tiny bit too thin and chewy. It didn’t quite allow for the flavours to be soaked up properly.
Having said that, I thought that the flavours on both pizzas were beautiful 😍 I was really feeling that squash base pizza. It wasn’t shy of some heat, but perhaps chilli flakes rather than real chillies would’ve been better because it detracted from the other flavours a little 🍕
The broccoli added a nice crunch but smaller chunks would’ve been easier to eat. All in all, I’d order it again. The Vegana was nice but needed a bit more sauce. The olives gave it a lovely salty punch and all of the toppings worked well together! 🍕
I think that £11 a pizza was a reasonable price but I’d love to see a few changes made including more vegan options on the menu! 🌱 The team are considering adding vegan cheese. Help them out, what would you like to see on their menu?
The lovely team were kind enough to invite me and gave me this food on a complimentary basis. No payment was received and all opinions, as always, are honest and my own.
