What The Fattoush – Walthamstow

I’m egg-static to share one of my fave vegan spots with you: @whatthefattoush 🤤 {complimentary meal}⁣

Fully vegan Palestinian food made using natural ingredients. Right up my street 😍⁣

I’ve posted about these guys before but thought it was time to try their breakfast! (Before anyone panics, the ‘egg’ is tofu 🍳 ) Here’s what we thought:⁣

🌱⁣⁣⁣⁣Shakshuka – A slow cooked aubergine, red pepper & chickpea stew in a tomato sauce w/ tofu ‘eggs’⁣
✏️The ‘egg’ is clever! The yolk tastes very eggy & texture is similar too. The dish was a little too watery for me and I wanted more depth of flavour (maybe some spice). We ordered potatoes for ours and I’m glad we did as it gave it more substance ⁣
❓Order Again?⁣⁣ Yes, w/ changes⁣⁣
🌱⁣⁣⁣⁣Traditional Palestinian breakfast w/ falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, za’atar, spiced sautéed potatoes, Arabic bread, olives, pickles & ‘feta’⁣
✏️Absolutely adored this. It was fresh, healthy & filling. The falafel was amazing – crispy & full of flavour. The vegan feta was SO GOOD & gave the dish sharpness. The tabbouleh was very citrusy which worked. I’m not a big fan of parsley but enjoyed this. The juice from the peppers gave a nice heat but the pepper itself was too hot for me to eat alone!⁣

🌱⁣⁣⁣⁣What The Fry Up w/ sausage, tofu scramble, baked beans, fried mushrooms, sautéed potatoes & sourdough⁣
✏️ This is fab! Potatoes were cooked & seasoned to perfection, as were the garlic mushrooms. Tofu scramble was done well and had quite an eggy flavour. It was soft, fluffy & melted in the mouth. I‘m partial to a spring onion in a scramble so would’ve liked some of those too! The baked beans had been sweetened and were delish. The sausage was quite chewy but I liked it. Also loved that the sourdough wasn’t too tough & had butter on it 😍⁣
