Wicked Vegan – Balham

“More burgers?”, I hear you cry?! 🤔 Well people, there’s no rest for the ‘wicked’ and these burgs won’t review themselves 💁🏼‍♀️🍔 {#ad}⁣

Every day, I receive messages asking me to head to South London more so I took your feedback on board and headed on a trip to Balham to taste Wicked Vegan’s food!

Firstly, I’ve only been to Balham a couple of times but it’s such a cute area and I’m over the moon to see that there are so many vegan spots opening up there. I think a decent vegan brunch spot is next on the cards for the area!

Anyway, here’s what Chris & I ate and thought:⁣

🌱Wicked Vegan burger with deep fried jackfruit, coleslaw, lettuce, tomato & gherkins, served w/ chips⁣
✏️Well, this is a bloody fantastic burger 👏🏼 Every single ingredient was proportioned perfectly. The star of the show was the sweet slaw but the chipotle mayo was giving it a real run for its money. Also, good to note that Time Out just voted this one of the best vegan dishes in London.

🌱No Beef burger with Beyond Meat, chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato, gherkins & red sumac onions w/ chips⁣
✏️It ain’t no secret that I bloody love Beyond Meat and this patty is cooked well! It’s easy to overcook a BM patty so I’m glad these guys did it justice. I love the hint of heat from the chipotle mayo, the delicious sweetness from the onions and I was really surprised that the cheese even had a little sharpness to it. If I had to criticise anything, I’d say that the bun was every so slightly too thick for the burger.

🌱Mac Attack – Mac & cheese with crispy onions & parmesan⁣
✏️So, this dish isn’t especially mac-and-cheese-like, I wouldn’t say but it is absolutely delicious in its own right. It’s basically a creamy mushroom pasta dish which I absolutely love. Both the crispy & spring onions worked really well and actually I would’ve liked even more of them. I can imagine a little truffle oil fitting in well in this dish too!

🌱Machos with black beans, guac, v cheese, jalapeños, scallions, homemade salsa & jackfruit⁣
✏️This is a damned good plate of nachos! I really enjoyed the smoky flavour and the super juicy jackfruit. The beans could’ve used a little more seasoning and the cheese didn’t really have much flavour but overall, a decent plate and I’d eat it again!
❓Order Again?⁣ Yes⁣

🌱Chick’n Caesar w/ Seitan strips, lettuce, tomato, v parmesan & Caesar dressing⁣
✏️ I’ve been getting really into Caesar salads recently. I feel like a lot of places are nail them! This wasn’t bad at all but it did feel like it was missing something. I liked that the seitan was light and crispy but it needed a touch more seasoning. I really enjoyed the peppery sauce but would’ve liked a bit more of it.
