Any Caribbean eatery which refers to itself as a ‘Rastarant’ is already a winner in my eyes 😍 ✌🏼
@zionlymanna, for me, was the most memorable place I visited on my recent tour of Peckham. From the infectiously passionate owner, Jahson, to the beautifully flavoured food – this venue stole my heart ♥️
Tucked away at the back of @ryelanemarket_, it’s not fancy or formal, it’s homely and focuses on the food and the customers ♥️ As much as I love a vegan burger or a spot of formal dining, this is everything that veganism should be about 🌱🙌🏼
There’s been a lot of talk recently about how vegan food can be expensive 💵 Jahson is on a mission to show, through his small, independent business, that vegan food can be simple, inexpensive and delicious! 😋 He whips up different meals every day, using seasonal ingredients and creates dishes bursting with flavour using minimal components 🍛 At the end of the day, he boxes up the leftovers and sells them at a lower price 💰
On our visit, we went for the full platter to share which costs £10 and came with:
🌱 Traditional Caribbean dumplings with a spicy sweet chilli sauce
🍝 Penne with cabbage – The flavours in this were divine!
🍚 Mushy pea rice – totally a thing and totally amazing
🍛 Spinach & sweetcorn curry
🍛 Chickpea, pumpkin & ginger curry – These two curries were my favourite dishes 🤤 .
🍛 Onion & carrot curry with soy chunks
🍟 Crinkle cut fries – because they should accompany everything tbh
Highly recommend this place which takes the ‘trendy’ out of veganism and strips it right back to its bloody delicious roots 😍 📸 @brixtonfoodfiend
