Oh my COD, more vegan fish options! 🐟 {ad}
It’s no secret that vegan fish is an area that desperately needs more attention so it makes me super happy to see places like little independent chippie @goldenunionltd venturing into the world of plant-based food 🐠
Kerry has been running this spot for 13 years so she knows what she’s doing and her passion for food is amazing. She told me she won’t stop until she’s perfected recipes and I love that! ❤️
Here’s what I tried:

🥧 @youngvegans Mushroom Stroganoff
🥧 @youngvegans Katsu Chicken Curry
🥧 @youngvegans Steak & ale
💰£9.95 in a meal or £5.65 takeaway
🌱 Battered sausage & hand-cut chips – they use Quorn
💰 £7.95
🌱 Extras: Curry sauce, coleslaw, pickled onion, gherkin & mushy peas
💭The fish was def my fave dish. The combo of tofu and banana blossom made it less firm and more flaky than tofu but less stringy and more fishy than banana blossom. I think they’ve done a good job at getting the flavour in there by marinading it too. It’s not as fishy as fish but it’s pretty good. The battered sausage was too tough for me – they’re still experimenting to get the exact right fit. The prawns were nice – similar to others I’ve had in that they don’t taste or feel exactly like prawns but I quite like them anyway. The pies were good, especially the steak and ale – super realistic!
