I must say, this was my first time trying Iraqi cuisine! 🥗 I’ve not seen many Iraqi traders in London so I was excited to visit Phillip and the @jumakitchen team at @boroughmarket 👋🏼

🌱 Uroog (left of photo) – Courgette & cauliflower fritter with parsely, dill & cumin. Served on fresh tanoor bread, drizzled with signature amba (mango pickle)

💭 This was a tasty dish! The fritters were similar to croquettes with a nice crisp coating and soft, fluffy potato filling. The amba gave a lovely flavour! My totally amateur tip is to mash the croquettes with your fork to ensure it covers all of the bread 🤤

🌱Fattoush salad w/ tomato, radish, sumac, cucumber, lettuce, pomegranate dressing, fried khobz. (Full disclosure: Also came with a ‘mushroom chap’ with mashed potato, chesnut mushrooms, garlic & parsley. We didn’t realise it also had truffle oil in until we ate it. I’d love to try one which doesn’t contain truffle oil)

💭This was tasty and the dressing was nice but if felt like it was missing something. I’d love to see one more substantial element in the dish to elevate it

💭 Doesn’t have loads of flavour on its own but the delicious sharp sauce provides that. I love the juicy texture of the spinach and the slightly bitter flavour. Pastry is cooked really well too!
