Whoever invented miso aub is an auber-genius 🍆🤓 {press meal}
Ya girl went high end recently with a trip to one of the fanciest spots in town – @sushisamba 🍣
This was my first time dining at their Covent Garden branch 📍 Here are my thoughts:
🍌 Plantain Moqueca w/ okra, coconut milk, dendé oil, fried rice
💰£27
🤷🏼♀️Order again? Yes in the sense that I really enjoyed this creamy, flavoursome dish. I was initially shocked at the price but think it’s designed as a sharer for two
🍣 Selection of maki & nigiri
💰 £15
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? No. It wasn’t bad but could’ve been much more exciting – was expecting more interesting combos & flavour
🍄 Mushroom Tobanyaki w/ yuzu soy & garlic chips
💰£18
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? Yes. Really enjoyed this and if I was here again it‘d be my first choice, hands down
🏆 Fave dish
🍆 Miso aubergine w/ sweet soy
💰£11
🤷🏼♀️Order again? Yes, it was really tasty – I’d have it as a sharer to make it more affordable
🌱Asparagus w/ sesame & sweet soy
💰£14
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? No. I can’t justify this price
🥗 Samba salad w/ baby spinach, grilled kabocha, truffle ponzo, shavings of heritage carrot, radish, apple & mango dressing
💰£16
🤷🏼♀️ Order again? No. I liked some of the flavours but it didn’t wow me and I think it’s too expensive for a salad
🍹 The mocktails were excellent and I’d deffo come back for them
🍨 Only vegan dessert is mochi
💰I know that it’s a fancy venue and you’re paying for the excellent service, location & beautiful decor so you expect it to be pricey but some of them did shock me. I wanted to love the food a bit more for the price tag. In fairness though, if you share three dishes (which is enough for two), it works out at about £56 (£28pp) which isn’t too bad for such a nice venue
