Any Caribbean eatery which refers to itself as a βRastarantβ is already a winner in my eyes π βπΌ
@zionlymanna, for me, was the most memorable place I visited on my recent tour of Peckham. From the infectiously passionate owner, Jahson, to the beautifully flavoured food β this venue stole my heart β₯οΈ
Tucked away at the back of @ryelanemarket_, itβs not fancy or formal, itβs homely and focuses on the food and the customers β₯οΈ As much as I love a vegan burger or a spot of formal dining, this is everything that veganism should be about π±ππΌ
Thereβs been a lot of talk recently about how vegan food can be expensive π΅ Jahson is on a mission to show, through his small, independent business, that vegan food can be simple, inexpensive and delicious! π He whips up different meals every day, using seasonal ingredients and creates dishes bursting with flavour using minimal components π At the end of the day, he boxes up the leftovers and sells them at a lower price π°
On our visit, we went for the full platter to share which costs Β£10 and came with:
π± Traditional Caribbean dumplings with a spicy sweet chilli sauce
π Penne with cabbage β The flavours in this were divine!
π Mushy pea rice β totally a thing and totally amazing
π Spinach & sweetcorn curry
π Chickpea, pumpkin & ginger curry β These two curries were my favourite dishes π€€ .
π Onion & carrot curry with soy chunks
π Crinkle cut fries β because they should accompany everything tbh
Highly recommend this place which takes the βtrendyβ out of veganism and strips it right back to its bloody delicious roots π πΈ @brixtonfoodfiend
