Hunt For The UK’s Best Vegan Food: Ep 4

HUNTING FOR THE UK’S BEST VEGAN FOOD: EPISODE FOUR 🇬🇧

Welcome back to the series where I hunt for the best vegan food around the UK, as recommended by you!

This week, I visit @the_chester_arms in Chicheley near Milton Keynes (where I was born). In 2017, they launched their bespoke vegan menu, making it one of the only places in the area to offer anything like this

💭 I really enjoyed this roast. I was a big meat eater back in the day and do miss the meaty element of a Sunday lunch. These meat subs were excellent. They weren’t like traditional roast meat cuts at all, but the taste and texture in comparison to meat was really realistic. The gravy was a little thin and I wanted more of it but I did like the flavour. The cauli cheese was a bit thin – needed to be thicker, creamier, cheesier and more of it. The potatoes were nice and crispy. I enjoyed all of the veg actually but at £17 a plate (which is the same cost as the meat roast), I would’ve liked a bigger portion. A yorkshire pudding would’ve been the perfect way to round the plate out. Huge props to this pub for creating such a vegan-friendly menu where it’s clear so much research and effort has gone into it!
