Spaghetti Ragu

Don’t scroll “pasta” 🍝⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Is there anything more comforting than a big bowl of spaghetti? 🍝 I think not 🙅🏼‍♀️⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Even though it’s one of my go to’s, I wouldn’t say I have a specific recipe for a tomato-based spaghetti dish 🤷🏼‍♀️ Sometimes I use lentils as the base, other times I use vegan mince. Sometimes I load mine up with veggies and other times, I just want a “meatier” experience 🤤 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But here are a couple of the staples I always add:⁣⁣
🍅 Chopped tomatoes / passata / tomato purée⁣⁣
🧅 Onion⁣⁣
🧄 Garlic⁣⁣
🌿 Oregano⁣⁣
🍄 Mushrooms⁣⁣
🍄 @geo.watkins mushroom ketchup ⁣
🧀 @iamnutok parmesan⁣⁣
🧀 Nooch, nooch and more nooch⁣⁣
🌱 @marmite – marmite haters, I’m sorry but that punchy, zingy sa

ltiness is just too good in a tomato sauce⁣⁣
🧂 Salt & pepper⁣⁣
🍷 Red wine if I’ve got some⁣⁣

Did you know that spaghetti bolognese is not a traditional Italian dish? 🤷🏼‍♀️ In Italy, it’s called ‘Ragù alla Bolognese’ and is often served with tagliatelle instead because it’s better equipped to hold the sauce 🍝 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There’s also a slight difference between Ragu and Bolognese. Ragu means ‘meat sauce’ and Bolognese is a type of Ragu which has milk in it to make it creamier. Definitely going to add some vegan milk to mine next time! 🥛 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
By no means am I an expert in Italian cooking, so if any Italians follow me, please do let me know if you can offer any more knowledge around the traditional Ragu and Bolognese dishes! 🍝🇮🇹 ⁣⁣

What’s your secret ingredient for your spaghetti dishes? 🤔 🍝
