@piedaterrerestaurant in Fitzrovia has been a hub for fine-dining since 1991 and the team were recently named ‘No1 Vegan tasting experience in the UK’ so I knew I needed to check it out.

Here’s what I tried:
🍴 Plantbased lunch tasting (10 courses)
🌱Canapes – Beetroot meringue & pistachio, fava & saffron, Italian young chard
🥗“Garden of Eden” salad
🌱Dutch white asparagus bavarois
🌱Oven roasted celeriac “scallop”
🌱Collard greens and basmati rice dolma
🍝Tagliatelle carbonara
🧀Crackers with vegan cheese
🍨Rhubarb & sorbet
🍫Chocolate mousse with wild strawberries
🌱Petit Fours – Seabuckthorn pate de fruits, Madeleine, Peanut butter crispy
💰£130

💭 Staff were lovely and the experience didn’t feel stuffy at all. I was really impressed by the mocktails, especially the espresso martini and my friend loved the wine. The highlights were the beetroot meringues, celeriac “scallop”, collard greens and basmati rice dolma and the rhubarb and the chocolate & strawberry dessert. I liked that they had some heartier dishes and some vegan cheese slotted into the menu. The carbonara was nice but the kind of dish I cook a at home so I would’ve liked to see something a bit more complex. There were some dishes I felt needed refining such as the peanut butter rice crispy and others that needed elevating such as the garden of eden salad. I would’ve liked to see more protein throughout but overall, it was clear that the chef had thought about what vegans want to see and I enjoyed the creativity with ingredients
