I always hear my non-vegan friends raving about @rotikinguk and I’ve been pestering them to add vegan options for years so I was excited to get down and try it now that they’ve added a couple.

Here’s what I tried:
🍄 Shiitake mushroom rendang 💰 £10.50
🍚 Nasi goreng – stir fried rice💰 £10.50
🍜 Char Kuey Teow – stir fried noodles💰 £10.75
🥬 Kangkung Belacan – morning glory💰 £9.95

💭 In a place called Roti King, it does seem a shame not to have a vegan roti on the menu so I’d love to see that next but the current options have been done really well. The shiitake mushroom rendang was my fave dish – such stunning flavours. It reminded me of the jackfruit rendang from Joli in Borough Market in the sense that the “meat” has a crazy tender beef-like texture that you’d genuinely never be able to differentiate from meat. The morning glory was delicious, the Nasi goreng was flavoursome and buttery without feeling oily. The noodles were nice but not a million miles away from the rice – I’d choose the Nasi goreng if I went back personally. Overall, not a huge vegan menu but a few options done well and another place to add to the “popular non-vegan spots that are vegan-friendly” list.
