Arepa’s the love you’ve looked for, 👀
Fab Venezuelan cuisine ❤️ 🎶 .
Yeah, that’s right, ya girl went tropical last week 🌴 It was the perfect place to spice up an otherwise fairly gloomy week ⛈ This was my first time trying Venezuelan food and I was seriously impressed. Big, bold flavours, carby goodness and plenty of spice 🇻🇪🔥 .
They’ve got lots of vegan and gluten free options, you’ll be pleased I know! 👏🏼 I tucked into the House pickled fruit & veg (super zesty), the Tostones – twice cooked green plantain served with a sweet coconut avocado dip, 🍌🥑🥥 the Mulata Arepa – gluten free cornbread, black beans, plantain & avocado 🥑 the Sabich Arepa – gluten free cornbread, roasted aubergine, tahini, pineapple, coconut chutney, pico de gallo, coriander & mint sauce 🍆 and the Pabellon, Venezuela’s signature dish with rice, black beans, ripe soft plantain & sweet potatoes 😍
The Tostadas were the perfect delish starter, the Sabich was hot with a sweetness from the bread and pickles, a beautiful mix of bold, tangy flavours 🔥 The Mulata was like Venezuelan banana pancakes mixed with avo toast: cream and satisfyingly sweet 😋 The Pabellon was really tasty but for me, the sweet potato paired with the plantain made it a bit too sweet 🍌
DO NOT LEAVE without ordering the Mazamorra, a super creamy dessert made with corn and coconut milk, fresh raspberries & coconut crisps 🥥 It slightly resembles a trifle with a subtle custard taste teamed with the most satisfying crunch from the coconut. Amazing 😍
