Where have you “bean” all my life? 😍 {gifted}
In case you haven’t heard about the new bean on the block, @beanituk is the world’s first plant-based protein made from Nordic fava beans… fancy! 💁🏼♀️
I know what you’re thinking, ‘cos I thought it too 🤔 Is it going to be mushy & funny tasting? Well, I’m pleased to inform you that it’s not! 🙌🏼 I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be incorporating these into my meals 👏🏼
I was sent a quick, easy sloppy hot dog recipe to try using the “mince” and it was tasty! 🌭 Here it is if anyone wants it:
🌱 Fry 175g @beanituk mince on high heat for 4 mins then remove from the pan, set aside
🌱 Slice 1 white onion thinly and add to pre heated pan (medium heat) until soft
🌱 Peel and finely chop 1 clove of garlic, add to the pan
🌱 Add 400g chopped tomatoes and cook for a minute (we also added some roasted tomato & garlic sauce to give extra flavour)
🌱 Add spices (1 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper, 1/2 tap paprika) and the @beanituk mince and stir
🌱 Bring to boil and allow to simmer for 30 mins
🌱In the meantime, cook vegan sausages of your choice (we used four @frysfamily smoked hot dogs)
🌱Lightly toast some hotdog buns under the grill
🌱Place the sausages in the bun and top with @beanituk mince mixture
🌱Sprinkle with coriander and add vegan cheese if desired (we used @applewood_cheese)
🌱 Ta-da!

🌾 Gluten free? Yes
🙋🏼♀️ Extra into: High in protein, soy free
🍽 Ingredients: Water, pea protein, vegetable oil (rapeseed oil, fully hydrogenated rapeseed oil), fava beans, salt & black pepper
💭 I quite liked the texture! I was expecting it to be mushy but it wasn’t. It wasn’t as firm as meat mince but held together well. I wouldn’t say I could taste it much so I suppose the flavour does get a bit lost once mixed with different spices & sauces but it doesn’t have a strange taste like some soy products do. I love that they use minimal ingredients. I‘d say you’d probs need two packs if you were making a bolognese or similar
Have you tried it yet? 😋
