HUNTING FOR LONDON’S BEST VEGAN SANDWICH – EPISODE FIVE

Yes, it’s that time again. I am scouring London in search of the best sandwiches in the city (the vegan kind).

This week: A sandwich made with garlic bread. Yes, you read that correctly. Why have I never seen this before?! It’s an absolutely genius idea!

GNARBECUE

So, episode five took me to the well-known Southbank Christmas markets to visit vegan junk food specialists – @thegnarbecue. They used to be based in New Cross, then they moved to Box Park in Croydon and now you can find them at the Southbank and also in The Lexington in Kings Cross.

I visited to try their sacre bleu chicken vegan sandwich which is packed with a fried chicken patty, blue cheese sauce, caramelised onions, mayo, lettuce and gherkins stuffed in-between garlic brioche.

Click here to watch the video and see what I thought of it as well as some sexy close ups of the sandwich. Has anyone tried it yet? What do you think?

I thought it was sweet, salty, rich, creamy, decadent, hearty and most importantly, garlicky. The team have done a great job and are really great guys who just enjoy doing what they do best which is creating epic vegan junk food.

The vegan sandwich is £12 so admittedly it’s not cheap but as a treat, it’s worth it and I’d definitely get it again because this has definitely made its way into my top five sandwiches.

For clarification – my sandwich category also includes subs, baguettes and I may even stretch to wraps depending on how generous I’m feeling on the day. So, if this angers you, please submit your complaints to the Board of Sandwiches 🥪

Save this list for the next time you’re near the Southbank and hankering for a sandwich. Stay tuned for the next episode and please leave your recommendations in the comments 🙏🏻
