Hallelujah, a new vegan spot with a menu sent from above 🙏🏻👼🏼 {press meal}
Okay, I’ve got good news and bad news…
👎🏼 The bad news is that Mao Chow has closed
👍🏼 The good news is that it actually hasn’t really. It’s been reincarnated with a new name, menu and venue (just around the corner) 😍 – @facing_heaven
🤷🏼♀️ So, what’s the difference? You ask. Well, it’s bigger and unlike MC which focused solely on Sichuan dishes, this menu expands to include Cantonese, Yunnan & Shaanxi dishes as well as flavours from Puerto-Rican, Portuguese and American to reflect owner Julian’s upbringing. Oh and they’ve got a disco loo. Need I say more? 🕺🏻

🍜 Cold XO noodles with seaweed slivers

🌱Crispy tofu skin with a fermented tofu & scallion sauce

🤷🏼♀️Order again? Yes. If you miss a pork crackling / scratching, this will be right up your street. The scallion sauce is genius
🥣 Wild garlic congee – rice porridge, pickled onion, crispy shallots & youtiao

🤷🏼♀️Order again? No. Whilst I didn’t mind it, I’m not sure I’d order it over other dishes if I visited again

🥞 HK French toast w/ peanut butter, condensed milk & malt powder

🤷🏼♀️ Order again? Yes. You’ll have to go to confession after eating this. It’s pure filth. Amazing but I could only manage two bites so I’d recommend sharing with a few people
