Kefalonia – Greece

I just spent two weeks in Kefalonia – a beautiful Greek island. Here’s what we got up to and some info for anyone considering visiting:

📸 1 – The pure joy of someone who found vegan pancakes – @baroquelebistro
📸 2 – Can someone please introduce vegan yoghurt to Kefalonia? The amount of meals I had which were almost tasty but super dry without tzatziki was upsetting. These vegan gyros came with ketchup – would not recommend 🙃
📸 3 – Myrtos beach – voted the most beautiful beach in Greece for many years
📸 4 – Very average vegan pasta but the excitement of finding vegan ravioli & parmesan was great at the time
📸 5 – Attempting my best Wes Anderson pose in the small town of Assos
📸 6 – A dreamy afternoon at a local taverna
📸 7 – Is it even a holiday without an @aperolspritzuk?
📸 8 – My fave pic of the tiny town of Assos – quaint & cute but I preferred Fiskardo personally. I did find vegan cookies in the local bakery though!
📸 9 – This giant vegan club sandwich got me through many beach days

📸 1 – Drenched in evening sun with the most beaut dinner view (see next pic)
📸 2 – Probs the best restaurant view of the entire trip at @whiterocks_hotel – sunset over the beach & ocean
📸 3 – I found vegan souvlaki & chips in a restaurant called Ladokolla. The meat wasn’t bad but boy was it dry without tzatziki
📸 4 & 5 – We wanted a relaxing beach holiday after a busy year so we spent most days at Makros Gialos beach / @costacostabeach bar. The water was insanely clear!
📸 6 – There were a few vegan moussakas on local menus. This one from @ampelakirestaurant was tasty and it was nice to enjoy the local cuisine without feeling left out
📸 7, 8 & 9 – We chose @vinaries_kefalonia for the beachside dining view. They had one vegan option (stuffed aubergines) and it was amazing. One of the best dishes of the trip. Would’ve been nice to have some protein though

📍 We stayed in Argostoli – the main town. It’s good for a base as lots of day trips / boats leave from there and there are lots of restaurants & bars
🏨 Accommodation: We stayed at @the_twelve_suites which was great. Good location, lovely staff, spacious & modern but a tad pricey. I’d recommend an apartment over a hotel so you have the option to cook your own vegan meals
🚕 We didn’t drive there but found it was easy to get taxis. It’s a 15 min cab from the airport to Argostoli and there are lots of taxis around to take you to different towns. We also did a one day private tour of the island with a driver which was great
🚤 The best thing we did was hire a boat through @lassi_rentaboat. Loved jumping into the clear blue water (some of the clearest I’ve ever seen)
🌱 VEGAN-FRIENDLY RANKING: 5/10. I struggled at times, I’ll be honest. I did find enough to get by and there were some places doing a good job but it became very samey and it wasn’t the best food I’ve ever eaten. Having said that, it was better than I expected from a small Greek island
