My skin journey 🥰
I didn’t think I’d be that blogger who said “a few of you have been asking about my skin routine” 😂 but here we are!
Disclaimer: I’m not here to tell you that going vegan is a miracle acne cure. It might be for some but it wasn’t for me.
I’ve suffered from acne since I was 16 and have been self conscious about it since so sharing this is a big deal for me.
I’ve tried everything – antibiotics, every product under the sun and of course, the pill, which I was on for 14 years. This controlled my skin but when the brand I used was discontinued, I was put on a different one and all hell broke loose 🙈
I visited a dermatologist who put me on roaccutane which worked. However, I was still on the pill and a few months later, I decided I wanted to stop pumping hormones around my body. I didn’t feel in control of my mood or like myself on the pill but the fear of my skin flaring up again put me off for a long time.
Eventually, I went for it. My skin was perfect for a month, then suddenly flared up. I was tempted to go back on the pill, but I stuck it out, shed a few tears, did some research and decided to try some products with glowing reviews and they’ve changed my skin! It’s still not perfect but I’m now confident in it 🥰
These photos are from three weeks into my new routine vs eight weeks in (it’s still improving every day).
Here’s my routine:
♥️ Accumax – These are skincare supplements with Vit A, C, E & diinodolymlethane – a food-based compound found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, which supports hormonal balance. THESE ARE GAME CHANGERS!
♥️ The Ordinary squalane cleanser
♥️ The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
♥️ The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
♥️ The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
♥️ The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque – this stuff is AMAZING
I know beauty gurus combine different brands but I find skincare overwhelming and I’m just getting started so I wanted to buy from one brand to begin with.
However, please leave any great products / tips in the comments!. Hope this is useful 🥰 Please note I’m wearing make-up in the first photo ♥️
