🐥 A well a everybody’s heard about The Birds, B-B-B-Birds, Birds, Birds, The B-Birds the word… 🐥
@thebirdsleytonstone in Lleytonstone is where it is AT at the moment 💥 You guys asked me for more vegan friendly pubs and this one is an absolute cracker 😍 Named after the famous Hitchcock movie (because this area is where he was born), this beautiful pub’s decor gives subtle nods to the film 🎥 🦅
The vegan menu is VERY impressive. They offer vegan versions of the meat dishes so that no one misses out but rumour has it they may go 100% vegan soon 🌱🤞🏼Sadly the truffle mac was sold out but I tucked into:
🍔 The Chicken-ish Burger with crispy seitan, garlic mayo, rocket, tomato, pickle & fakeon. This was amazing! The seitan tased just like a KFC boneless fillet but less greasy. Absolutely loved it. My only criticism (and I could be bias because I don’t like the stuff) the rocket doesn’t add anything.
🍔 Beefless Burger with soy mince, tomato, pickle, onions & a vegan cheese sauce. The sauce, the ingredients, everything about this is Big Mac-esque which I loved. However, I did find myself wishing that the patty was a bit firmer as it fell apart quite easily. If this had the texture of a @nobullburgerco / @beyondmeat, it would be perfection! Still a great burger though 👏🏼
🍟 Dirty fries with fakeon, chilli, spring onions, pickle, chilli & mayo. I mean, delicious. The fakeon wasnt for me but everything else was divine!
🌶 Salt & Pepper tempura cauliflower. This was absolutely beautiful. It’s hard to compete with a vegan burger but this might even be my dish of the night! .
This is a brilliant venue 🙌🏼 Fab staff, a homely feel, delish food, bangin’ pub quiz, dog friendly and clearly labelled vegan beers! 🍻
