They’ve recently teamed up with celebrity chef @chefcollinbrown (who has cooked for Beyoncé and is the only caribbean chef to be awarded an AA rosette), to launch a fresh new menu with a focus on healthy ingredients such as callaloo, ackee & jackfruit.
I headed to their Hammersmith branch (which is huuuuge by the way) to check out the new Turtle Bay vegan menu. Here’s what I tried and thought:
🇯🇲 Jamaican run down 💰 £13.80
🍛 Curry jackfruit 💰 £13.80
🍌 Island brunch bowl 💰 £8.90
🌱 Trini doubles 💰 £6.40
🍗 Vegan jerk chicken 💰 £13.80
🌱 Vegan yardbird 💰 £8.90
💭 TURTLE BAY VEGAN MENU REVIEW – The Trini doubles were really good – lots of flavour packed in there. The brunch bowl was tasty and I liked the use of ackee, callaloo & plantain but I personally like a bit more heat so I loaded hot sauce on and enjoyed it more. The yardbird was a little small – felt like something was missing. The Jamaican run down didn’t have enough flavour for me though I liked how creamy it was. The curry jackfruit had some nice spices going on and I actually enjoyed the texture of the jackfruit (I don’t always). The jerk gravy on the chicken was so nice – flavoursome with a nice level of heat. The chicken itself was a little spongey but I actually still enjoyed it. I should’ve got it with rice & peas though – rookie error.
🏆 The Trini doubles and the jerk gravy were the highlights for me
🍹 It’s also worth mentioning that they clearly label all of their cocktails as vegan and they had vegan pina coladas and espresso martinis
🍸 They offer a 241 happy hour and a bottomless brunch too!
