Yau-atch-ually won’t believe how many vegan options there are at @yauatchasoho 🌱 .
I used to love @yauatchasoho before I went vegan so I was determined to get my little butt back down there 😍 Now, none of the options on the menu are labelled as vegan (just veggie) so it did require a little help from the waiter but it turns out that quite a few of the veggie dishes are already vegan or can be veganised easily. Hoorah! 🌱
@jolley_chris and I devoured:
🥟 Wild mushroom dumplings
🥟 Crystal dumpling wrap with pumpkin & pine nut
🥟 Steamed vegetable dumpling
🥟 Szechuan dumpling .
🍛 Stir-fry soybean with cloud ear mushroom £14
🍆 Spicy aubergine, sato bean, okra and French bean with peanut £13
All of the dumplings were £6 for three (we had already eaten some when we took this pic) and were absolutely delicious. The texture is great – Not too thick but they hold their own. Sometimes I find that veggie dumplings all taste kind of similar but these all had their own unique flavours. Totally moreish and not easy to share as Chris and I discovered 😉
The stir-fry soybean was described to us as a vegetarian duck by the waiter and it was very meaty. The sauce was sticky, sweet, smoky and beauuutiful. Really enjoyed this dish! 😍 However, the aubergine dish didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t very substantial and the beans had a very bitter flavour. I would’ve been disappointed if I ordered this for my main 😔
All in all, we both really enjoyed most of the food. Whilst the waiter was helpful, we were disappointed at how slow the service was. Hopefully it was just an off day on the service front!
