Blake’s Hotel – South Kensington

I like to challenge people’s expectations of me and what I can achieve 🙇🏼‍♀️ Like, when the waitress says “Will you be able to fit all of that food you’ve ordered on your table?’. You better believe I can. I didn’t spend all those hours playing Tetris as a child for the skills to go to waste 🙅🏼‍♀️

I was recently invited to 5* @blakeshotel restaurant to try out the new vegan menu 🌱 So, I put my fancy pants on and trotted to South Kensington, dahling 💁🏼‍♀️ .
@jolley_chris and I tucked into the wild mushroom and truffle pizza on a cauliflower, hemp seed & hazelnut base (tasty but tough) 🍕 coconut saffron curry with parsnip, purple potatoes, asparagus & yellow quinoa (scroll for review) 🍛 cauliflower steak with salsa verde, tahini & turmeric (flavours were a little bitter for me), vegan breakfast with tofu, quinoa, mushrooms, avocado, beans & tomato (scroll for review)🍴 flax seed biscuits with vegan Nutella, banana & blueberries (not bad) and the courgette spaghetti stir fry which the chef made with basil, tofu (instead of ricotta) & cashew nuts – Delicious! 🤤
I was originally invited down to try the big breakfast but I’ll be honest, I wasn’t crazy about it. It was quite expensive at £14 and not super substantial. The tofu had a nice texture but the quinoa needed more flavour.
What I DID love, was the coconut saffron curry. I mean. Wow 😮 This is one of the best curries Chris and I have ever eaten and we weren’t prepared for it at all. It came with a mango purée which was so fresh and bursting with flavour, and a beautifully sweet coconut yoghurt. The curry itself was creamy yet light and had just the right amount of heat. Every component worked perfectly: I would travel back to South Ken for this in a heartbeat 💗
