I’ll never apologise for thrusting vegan burgers at your instagram feed and you can quote me on that 😂🍔🌱 (Invite)
I was invited to @hacheburgers a few days ago to test their brand new vegan creation – The Planted Burger 🌱 🍔 Created by @chef_chantelle, £1 for every one sold goes towards @schoolfoodmatters, so this is definitely a burger for a great cause! 👏🏼 .
Expect a ciabatta bun topped with butter lettuce, @rubiesintherubblemayo, @movingmountainsfoods B12 patty, kimchee, cashew butter & green chilli salsa 🍔 (Scroll for more burgery goodness) 🌱
If I’m honest, I wasn’t sure what to make of the burger. Some parts I really liked and others I thought could’ve been improved.
I’ve had @movingmountainsfoods’ patty a few times now and I seem to enjoy it more every time. The patty is (for want of a less teeth gritting term) moist 😂 It does remind me more of pork than beef but I love the consistency and think it makes for a great meat substitute 👏🏼 My main gripe with the burger was the ciabatta bread. For me personally, it is too thick and hard for a burger and doesn’t properly capture and hold onto the flavours. I also thought that the volume of bread dwarfed the patty a little. I would’ve loved a soft, smaller brioche bun 🍔 The green chilli salsa had a beautiful flavour as did the kimchi but there was too much of the kimchi and it was a little overpowering. There was some tomato but not enough for the burger and I did enjoy the crunch of the lettuce.
So, a bit of a mixed bag of feelings on the burger. I’ve spoken to people who really enjoyed it and others who thought it needed refining so I suggest you pop down and see what you think for yourself, and support a good cause while you’re at it ☺️🌱 .
The lovely team were kind enough to invite me and gave me this food on a complimentary basis. No payment was received and all opinions, as always, are honest and my own.
