I now declare it officially ‘roast season’ 🥰
I’ll be honest, I’m very rarely super impressed by a vegan roast but I’m determined to find some cracking ones 👀
Today’s plate:
📍 @canonburytavern – Islington
🍴 Broad bean, pea, spinach, vegan feta, pearl barley and chickpea vegetarian Wellington with Bloody Mary sauce (just ask for it without the Yorkshire pudding)
💰 £17
💭 They definitely deserve points for thinking outside the box and doing something a bit different but it didn’t wow me. The wellington was a bit dry and the plate needed one more element to replace the yorkie for vegans. The potatoes were nice but could’ve been a tad crispier and the sauce, while tasty could’ve had a slightly stronger flavour 🍅 I don’t think it was worthy of the fairly hefty price tag but I do think there’s potential – it’s really refreshing to see chefs putting extra effort into making their vegan menu items more creative 👏🏼
