Primed, prepped and DTF at @dfmexicodiner… Down To Feast, of course 💁🏼♀️🍴🇲🇽 🌯
These guys now offer an entire vegan menu with tacos, burritos, nachos and all of the Tex-Mex classics ya know and love ❤️ (Swipe to see multiple images)
Now, I’m gonna put this straight out there, the presentation is BEAUTIFUL but I do think that the menu needs work 🤷🏼♀️ For me, everything needed a bit more flavour and some fiery spice, but it has potential and I want to help them achieve that 🔥
I tucked into:
🌮 Ancho Mushroom tacos with oven roasted mushies, mojo de ajo (garlic sauce), red slaw and Mexican style sriracha salsa- This had a nice flavour but needed more mushrooms & spice and less slaw. It was also a little too oily.
🌮 Aubergine tacos – The aubergine was nice but despite a little more spice, they were a bit bland. I felt that the slaw took away from the flavour rather than added to it
🇲🇽 Nachos with tortilla chips, pinto beans, avocado, salsa, sriracha salsa and pink pickled onions – These were nice but needed way more toppings – some more beans, some fresh, chunky guac dollops and even some vegan cheese would be amazing
🌯 Burrito with roasted courgettes & peppers, sweet onions, avocado salsa, red pepper salsa, house pickles, guacamole – This sadly didn’t do it for me as it was more like a salad wrap than a burrito but it could be improved by taking out some of the slaw and veg and adding more rice and beans, and maybe some tofu/seitan
🍟 Chilli fries – These were tasty! I liked the seasoning and you just can’t go wrong with a crinkle cut
