Sugar and spice and all things nice, is what @hankiesmarblearch is made of 😍🍛🔥 .
I’d been to Hankies before and loved it so I was super excited when they told me that they offer vegan options and are happy to veganise dishes if you give them advance warning of your visit 🌱 The prices here are so reasonable for the quality of food and the service you get👌🏼
🔥 I spiced up my life by ordering the Pindi Choley – Braised chickpeas, spices & mango powder, chargrilled Bhatti Asparagus seasoned with thyme & garlic salt as well as toasted sesame, a vegan version of the the Roomali Roti with chutney, the Vegetable Pulao – Braised basmati rice with veggies and saffron, a vegan version of the Dahi Bhalla with tamarind, pomegranate and sev, and lastly, not on the menu but available when given advance warning ⚠️- Vegan courgette & onion fritters and Mixed vegetable cumin spiced tikka 🤤
The flavours the chefs use are superb 👏🏼 Bold, vibrant and certainly not shy of a bit of heat 🔥 The head chef came out to say ‘hi’ after the meal and it’s clear he’s passionate about flavours and was super excited to test out his skills by making dishes vegan. Legend! The chickpea dish was my favourite ❤️ The cinnamon gives it a beautiful sweetness, the red onion gave it a nice crunch and again, there was a lovely heat to it 🌶 It is creamy without being sickly and tastes incredibly fresh. A very well balanced dish 👏🏼 The Dahi Balla was also stunning with amazing contrasting textures. I’m not sure I would order the bhajis again as they were a little dry but they were an outlier in an otherwise lovely meal 😍
