Temple of Seitan – Various Locations

Guess what… it’s your “clucky” day… 🐣 {press meal}

…because I’ve got some exciting news to break! 📢

The OGs of vegan fried “chicken”, @templeofseitan, have been working on a brand new recipe for their “chicken” for over a year now and it’s about to hit their restaurants! 🍗 I was invited down to try it and compare it to their old recipe. Here’s what I thought:

🍗 I’ve been vocal about not being the biggest seitan lover in the world. I often find it heavy and dense. So, I was intrigued to see how this new recipe shaped up.

They use half the gluten flour they did in the original recipe and use more of a range of fibres from other vegetables. Because of this, it is *so* much softer and more moist than the original “chicken”.

It is much less spongey and pulls apart much more realistically with a very chicken-like texture. I would say that it still doesn’t give the full chicken flavour experience. I’d love more flavour in the “meat” and a slightly bolder coating but it’s still tasty and texture wise, much stronger. They’ve told me the flavour is still a work in progress though so watch this space!

This new “chicken” will be hitting stores in the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled 👀

Also, if you haven’t visited @goodswaylondon yet, you’re really missing out. What a cool, absolutely stunning venue! Strong New Orlean vibes. I’m deffo heading back on a Friday night to enjoy some live music and food 😍
